A kilogram just isn’t what it used to be. The 118-year-old cylinder that is the international prototype for the metric mass, kept tightly under lock and key outside Paris, is mysteriously losing weight — if ever so slightly.

Physicist Richard Davis of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures in Sevres, southwest of Paris, says the reference kilo appears to have lost 50 micrograms compared with the average of dozens of copies.

Pavarotti passes away:

Today is indeed a very sad day for the Opera world - Luciano Pavarotti, arguably one of the greatest Opera singers to ever bless the world with his artistic talent, has passed away at the age of 71.

I am still in awe of his magnificent performance at Madison Square Garden a few years back. May his soul rest in peace.

Apple releases a new iPod product line

Exactly 1 year minus 1 week later from when Apple’s last iPods were released, Apple has revamped its entire offering of iPods with a brand-new line of iPods:

iPod touch becomes the front-runner of the iPod product line.
The big iPod has now been renamed to iPod classic.
iPod nano becomes smaller but fatter, and can now play videos.
iPod shuffle simply gets refreshed with new colors.
